FAQ – frequently asked questions

How much do you charge?

Prices for a wedding band in Bavaria depend on several factors: date (Saturday in summer or off-season?), location (travel distance), playing time, and any additional custom songs. An evening programme of approximately 4 hours with the live band starts at €3,200. The acoustic trio for the drinks reception, ceremony, or coffee and cake reception can be added from €990.

How does the booking process work?

Booking us as your wedding band works like this: you fill out the contact form on our website, and we’ll get back to you within 1 to 2 days with a quote or a few quick questions. Once you’ve made your decision, you’ll receive a performance contract. After that comes an invoice for the deposit, and with that your date is firmly booked. We’ll sort out all remaining details by email or phone once you’ve planned your schedule for the day.

Do you travel further distances?

Absolutely, we play as a wedding band across all of Bavaria and beyond. In recent years we’ve played weddings in Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Austria, and Italy. Most of our shows are within 100km of Regensburg, often in the Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria, and Upper Bavaria. We regularly play in places like Landshut, Passau, Munich, Erding, Straubing, and the Chiemgau/Chiemsee region. Travel costs are included in the price up to 100km. For longer distances, additional travel costs and overnight accommodation apply.

How long do you play?

The acoustic trio plays during the ceremony or drinks reception, and the live band plays in the evening after dinner. Most weddings wrap up between midnight and 1am. In our experience that’s usually just right — after a long wedding day, dinner, and our evening set, guests have danced and sung along plenty. We can extend spontaneously on the night for an additional fee, but that’s a decision we make on the spot.

Do you play traditional music, Schlager and German-language songs?

We love a good folk festival in our spare time, but musically the Whoobers are firmly in the modern rock and pop camp: we love singing along to Teenage Dirtbag, jumping around to Blink-182, and swaying to Purple Rain or Oasis. That said, alongside plenty of English songs during the drinks reception, we also have a few Bavarian tracks in the mix (Claudia Koreck, Oimara, Keller Steff), and our evening set includes some German-language songs too, like Josh, Roy Bianco, Nena, Die Ärzte, Sportfreunde Stiller, Wir sind Helden, Cro, and Juli.

Do you do the „Brautentführung“ (bride kidnapping)?

We no longer offer the Brautentführung — a traditional German wedding game where the bride is „kidnapped“ and the groom has to find her. After doing a few over the years, we decided it doesn’t fit the Whoobers concept and honestly isn’t necessary for a great wedding. If you’d love to have one but still want to book us, we have contacts with musician friends who specialise in exactly that.

Can I book just the trio for the evening?

We see the acoustic trio as background music: for the drinks reception, the afternoon, or a summer garden party. In the evening we play as a trio only if there’s no need for dance or party music and the celebration is meant to have a more relaxed, laid-back vibe. For anything beyond that, the full band is the right choice.

What do you need for your performance?

All we need is space (trio approx. 2x2m, band approx. 3x3m), standard power (no industrial supply needed), and catering. Parking for a car and trailer is available at almost all venues anyway.

How long does setup take?

The acoustic trio sets up in 15 to 20 minutes. The full band needs 1 to 1.5 hours.

Can you learn our first dance song?

You can either choose from our first dance list or send us your own song — no problem! Pieces that aren’t possible in our setup, such as those written for brass band, string orchestra, or organ, can always be played as the original recording through our PA system.

Can you learn multiple songs?

We’re happy to learn one custom song for the ceremony or a first dance. Additional custom songs can be added for an extra fee.

Can you learn any song that exists?

As mentioned above for the first dance, there are occasionally requests that aren’t achievable in our setup. That’s the exception rather than the rule, and in those cases we can always play the original recording.

Can you send us a recording of our custom song?

Unfortunately that’s not possible. During the active season we don’t have the logistics for an extra rehearsal or recording session. We’re happy to work from existing versions or arrangements based on your preferences though.

Can we connect our own music to your PA after your set?

Packing down usually takes around 30 to 60 minutes, and you’re welcome to play your own music during that time. If we have an overnight stay at your wedding, we can also talk about leaving the system up and packing down the next morning.

Can you extend your set spontaneously on the night?

That’s a decision we make on the spot, depending on how much repertoire we have left, how far the drive home is, and whether our voices are still holding up.

How far in advance should we book you?

As a wedding band in Bavaria, we’re often booked up 1 to 1.5 years in advance for Saturdays between mid-April and late October. Individual dates sometimes stay free for longer, but getting in touch early is always worth it. Weekdays, Fridays, and public holidays are often available at shorter notice.

„Band XY would play for half the price — why is that?“

Our prices as a professional wedding band come down to the fact that we’re all full-time musicians, have years of training behind us, have invested in quality equipment, and now receive many enquiries for every single Saturday in summer.

After more than 12 years as a band at a professional level, we think it’s fair to say: you can hear and feel the difference.

If another band is cheaper, there can be many reasons: fewer bookings, a newer setup, music as a hobby rather than a profession, a shorter travel distance, or fewer band members.

Band or DJ?

For the main part of the evening, a live band is the better choice. A wedding band creates moments and an energy that no DJ can replicate. You can always book a DJ afterwards — but guests remember the live band long after the wedding.

Can we see you perform live?

Public shows are rare these days since our schedule is mostly full with private events, which aren’t open to visitors. That’s exactly why we’ve built up a growing library of audio and video examples on our website and YouTube channel — and that’s the basis for almost all of our bookings.
